About the festival
We invite young musicians, singers and musical theatre performers to take part in the 4th Slavic Music Festival, which will be held in Guildford, in the heart of Surrey.
Guildford and Surrey have long been renowned for their vibrant cultural and music scenes. Classical music holds a special place, with works by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Dvořák and other composers of Slavic heritage.
We believe a new generation of talented performers is growing up in Surrey. They deserve the opportunity to perform on stage, hear from a professional jury, meet other musicians and feel part of a rich musical culture.
Who can take part
Four years ago, we created this project for young musicians. Every third Saturday in May, the festival brings together:
pianists;
violinists and other instrumentalists;
singers;
musical theatre performers;
ensembles, choirs, music schools and folk groups.
Two ways to take part
Competition
Participants perform their programme, receive professional feedback from the jury and compete for prizes. The jury includes experienced musicians who are happy to share their expertise, lead masterclasses and meet with participants.
Entry fee: £20.
Festival concert
If you simply want to perform on stage and be part of the festival, you can take part in the concert programme without entering the competition.
Free to take part.
Prizes
Competition winners will receive trophies, certificates and cash prizes of up to £100. Above all, they’ll have the opportunity to perform for an audience, receive professional feedback and meet other young performers.
